Hi, my name is Susan, aka suzie, and I am a
giraffaholic. I have no idea where my love of giraffes came from. Perhaps it is because they are such a graceful animal (something I am not) or maybe it's those big brown eyes which add to their gentleness and melts my heart....then again, who knows, it could be those looooooooong necks. My mother tells me when I was just a little girl I always said I wanted to be the tallest person in the world...an early affinity with them??
Thanks to my husband, family and friends I have a wonderful and varied collection of giraffes. I try to keep most of them in my computer room but the little guys inevitably make it into just about all the rooms in the house. Along with wood, wicker and ceramic figurines I have pens and pencils, a clock, bookmark, talking (as well as mute) stuffed toys, planters, frames, wall hangings, pillows, coffee mugs, salt and pepper shakers, note pads, a light switch cover, calendars, jewellery and clothes just to name a few....but my pride and joy is a 6 foot, all one piece, wooden giraffe!! Hubby and I were driving home from visiting my family and stopped for lunch in a small community about 2 hours from home and of course we just had to drop into some of the little shops around the restaurant. Hubby knew he was in trouble when I discovered the giraffe was one piece, usually the taller ones have a terrible 'break' where the neck and body join. We must have been quite the sight on the highway with him poking his head out the windows.
I am very privileged to be a mentor with the Beginner's Workshop for PhotoImpact. Fellow mentors and mentees seem to think I'm obsessed and have gifted me with some absolutely gorgeous sig tags. I am deeply humbled and thankful for their generosity!!
Below are just a few photos taken at
Elmvale Zoo and
Toronto Zoo Elmavale is a smaller family owned zoo with 25 acres to roam. A beautiful zoo which allows you to get quite close to the animals. The Toronto zoo is one of the worlds largest (710 acres, 10+ kilometers of walking trails and over 5000 animals.)
