Title: PhotoImpact Masks
Software: Corel PhotoImpact X3Can be done in earlier versions. Additional Files Required: A copyright free photo. If you are short on photos you can find copyright free ones here Description: Learn how to use PhotoImpact's masks. |
1. PhotoImpact comes loaded with some great masks, from a simple circle to some really cool shapes. Let's see what we can do with some of them. Open your photo, Ctrl/D to duplicate, then close original. Open your Easy Palette/Libraries/Mask/All....scroll through until you find S18, then right click |
2. My screen shots to the right show how the mask will be applied when you put a tick in each of the boxes. The green and black dots are the outline of the mask. Example 1. Keep original size: Notice how the mask is only partially visible? Had I left the photo at its original size of 4272X2848 pixels the results would be similar to the next image. Example 2. Fit Mask and Keep Aspect Ratio: Keeps original shape of mask and fits it to your photo. Example 3. Fit Mask: Exactly as stated...fit mask to image....see how it is stretched across the image? |

3. OK....let's apply the mask now, ensure you have the tick beside Fit Mask and Keep Aspect Ratio....now double click on the mask, the selection lines will appear on your photo. Right click/Convert to object....not much happening yet.... I used Natural Texture10 at 59% transparency on this first image. Second image I added a shadow....click on the masked image, right click/shadow and play with the settings until you find one you like. If you are doing this tutorial for The Beginner's Workshop, please save your masked/shadowed image.....then on to page 2 |
